Our approach to teaching is technique-focused through approachable, economical and formative workshops and classes. REDUCTION LINOCUT PRINTMAKING; 4 Mondays, January 5 - 26, 2026, 6p-830p
Discover the image-making, layering and color possibilities of reduction linocut printmaking. Working with  simple tools and techniques, as well as exploring the possibilities of color, artists will create an edition of  four-color 5x7” prints over four sessions. A material fee of $40 (payable to the instructor) includes all inks,  papers, plates, tools and one-time use supplies. POCHOIR PRINTMAKING: STENCIL PROCESSES FOR EDITION PRINTING; Saturday, January 24, 2026, 11a-330p
A precursor to screenprinting, Pochoir (pronounced po-shwar) engages artists in a traditional stencil-making practice that is easily adaptable to your own art-making techniques. Working with simple materials, this no-tech process breaks down color separations, ink adjustments and technical printing  processes into easily digestible tips and tricks. Explore text, pattern, and design while creating an edition of prints on paper! A material fee of $25 (payable to the instructor) includes all inks, papers, tools and one time use supplies; enrolled artists will be emailed a small list of items and images to provide closer to the  start of this workshop. ETCHING WITH SOFT GROUND: TONES & TEXTURES; 4 Mondays, February 23 - March 16, 2026, 6p-830p
After mastering hard ground techniques, artists are encouraged to continue their etching exploration with this soft ground etching workshop. Soft ground etching allows artists to develop texture-rich, tonal and drawn plates, capable of creating imagery unlike any other intaglio process. This workshop focuses on  creating intaglio prints from copper plates and will explore basic image-making techniques including plate preparation, soft ground etching, and edition printing. Artists will learn in-depth processes in etching leaving with a fully-processed plate, a suite of prints and all the knowledge to continue an etching practice in the Arts Council studios. Explore contemporary and  introductory bookbinding to create multiple book structures for highly personalized books—ideal for  journals, sketchbooks and artist books. Every artist will create a suite of beautiful handmade books, and  gain all the knowledge needed to explore binding in their own work. Explore repeatable printmaking at its easiest, most accessible form. This workshop will teach you the ins  and outs of non-chemical intaglio printmaking—a centuries-old technique for translating drawings and  marks into a repeatable edition of prints. Using simple skills, artists will have the opportunity to discover  the ease of quick and easy intaglio printing. Along the way, artists may learn about basic viscosity printing,  chine colle and exploratory inking techniques. ARTS COUNCIL OF PRINCETON SUMMER STUDIOS 2026

Summer Studios at the Arts Council of Princeton's Judith K. Brodsky Printmaking Studio are intensive all-levels workshops geared towards exploring the quick-and-dirty processes of printmaking. In three or four daily sessions, artists will develop the skills, master techniques and find comfort in new-to-them printmaking processes.

ABOUT DAVE DIMARCHI: Dave DiMarchi is a queer, multi-disciplinary artist working in printmaking, papermaking and sculptural book forms. Nurturing ideas into singular and editioned works, he engages in a relentless material practice. As a multi-disciplinary artist, he has exhibited works on paper, installations and books in the US and internationally. In addition to teaching printmaking, papermaking and book forms throughout the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area, he maintains a small collaborative studio and art space in Princeton, New Jersey. In autumn of 2022, he was announced as the Arts Council of Princeton’s Anne Reeves Artist-in-Residence, through which he developed a practice of collage-based multimedia and print works. He also serves as the Arts Council’s Printmaking Studios Manager and Master Printer. For nearly 15 years, he has created his own work, curated exhibitions, provided print exchange opportunities, and published fine art prints as 9INHANDPRESS, a fine art printmaking and education studio,

ABOUT 9INHANDPRESS: 9INHANDPRESS is a multi-disciplinary printmaking and educational studio in Princeton, New Jersey, emphasizing letterpress, papermaking, silkscreen and book forms. 9INHANDPRESS works closely with artists and educators to master art-making techniques through portfolio exploration, art creation and exhibition. 9INHANDPRESS also houses a pre-press graphic design studio concentrating on unique, hand-built graphics, typography and illustration. 9INHANDPRESS is proud to host our annual International Print Exchange, connecting printmakers and artists from around the world through printed media.
