From Press Release: Each artists’ work was carefully selected to reflect his or her relationship to “home.” Benoit’s sculptural works investigate “memory through the lens of domestic space, exploring experiences that make memory a necessity”. Calvert’s brightly colored prints romanticize domestic appliances, creating iconography of everyday objects. Dannin approaches printmaking as a general contractor, creating constructed images through careful, process driven experimentation. March Sanders, through her fiber art and prints, explores the human relationship to our collective environmental home, from the lens of her personal experiences--Hurricane Katrina, the BP oil spill. Sanders casts himself as detective, uncovering familial relationships that helped “raise” him. “The works chosen not only express a deep connection each artist has to a personal definition of ‘home’, they also speak to each other—a fuller, deeper conversation on the universal understanding we all have of our ‘home’,” remarked curator Dave DiMarchi.
From Press Release: A selection of 24 graphic prints from Kayrock Screenprinting is being shown at the Printmaking Center of New Jersey in Branchburg. Kayrock, founded in 1998 by Karl LaRocca, specializes in hand-printed fine art editions, posters, cards and artists’ books. On exhibit at PCNJ are the silkscreen works of nationally and internationally known artists, including Anne Vieux, Kristen Martincic, John Broadley, Monica Wynn, Eric Doeringer, Jennifer Grimyser, Chie Fueke, Ryan Brady, Sheryl Oppenheim, Esther Ruiz, Conrad Guevara, Maya Hayuk, Robert Lazzarini, Reed Anderson, Dan Flanagan, Jude Broughan, Tres Roemer, Justin Armhein, Hope Gangloff, Matthew Korbel Bowers, Betty Hart and Justin Armhein.
